My name is Nicole and my beloved younger
brother, Jamison Toews, is one of the many unfortunate victims of the Aurora,
Colorado, movie theater massacre. Jamison was there with his girlfriend and her
6-year-old daughter. All three of them were shot. Jamison was shot in the head
and the bullet fragments, still lodged in his skull, cannot be removed because
his doctors say that there is too much risk of causing further damage. His
girlfriend, who he considers the love of his life, was shot three times. Miraculously, she is finally stable after
undergoing multiple surgeries. Unfortunately, the bullet wounds have left her paralyzed
from the waist down. Before this tragic event occurred, she was pregnant with their child. In fact, the day of the shooting, she and Jamison had just undergone their very first ultrasound and were told that everything was good. The baby miraculously survived for nearly a week after the shooting but, tragically, the extensive ongoing trauma suffered by his girlfriend has caused a miscarriage. In addition, her sweet 6-year-old daughter, whom my brother loves as his own child, was one of the 12 victims who tragically lost their lives that night. Her precious, young life was taken from all of us much too soon! This horrific tragedy has been devastating for everyone involved, especially the victims. Jamison does not have medical insurance and has lost his work due to the physical and emotional trauma he's enduring. His life will never be the same. As Jamison's devoted sister, I am pleading for your help in the form of donations of any amount toward his mounting medical expenses and his loss of income. Words can't even describe how grateful my family is for everyone who wants to help us in this tragedy, including those who can only offer prayers. To all of the wonderful people who have already shown Jamison such a tremendous outpouring of love and support, thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Your loving messages and amazing generosity mean the world to us!
